Going Deeper: Helen Ann Davis

This is Helen Ann Davis. More commonly known as Annie. We have been friends for quite some time now, and even though I feel like I know everything about her, I don’t. Because I feel like you can always get to know someone better, I decided to start a series where I do a Q&A with some of my good friends. I thought it would be fitting if I started with Annie. Annie lives about 30 minutes away from me so we facetimed each other one night last week. And so it begun…

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a teacher, until 5th grade when I realized how little money they made. I also didn’t want to deal with stuck up children.

What is your favorite novel?

My favorite would have to be Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass. It has a good look on how he finds the meaning of life (hence the title). When I was younger I thought it had a positive outlook on what we were destined to be.

What makes you feel afraid?

Crowds. Abandonment- being left alone, left behind. Ladybugs (true story she has a major fear a ladybugs) and feet. (Everyone is scared of feet, so I second that).

If you could have lunch with anybody-dead or alive- who would it be?

Uhhh..Jesus? Probably, Elizabeth Blackwell or Helen Keller. I was really inspired by what they had achieved when I was younger.

What / Who inspires you?

My parents and [older] people who have lived through something like World War II-someone who has gone through so much. It reminds me that it could be a lot worse, and that I can get through stuff.

What’s your dream job?

Right now it’s the FBI. I want to do something with psychology-like criminal profiling- and why a person is the way they are. And obviously to keep America safe.

What do you love the most about yourself?

I like my sense of humor and being able to not take things too seriously.

What don’t you like?

Overreacting to small things, or letting the little things get to me.

What Hogwarts house do you think you would be put in?

I want to say Gryffindor but probably  Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. If I was in Ravenclaw, I feel like I would be Luna, like I would be the outsider no one was friends with.

What are some of your favorite lyrics?

Fix My Eyes by For King and Country says, “Love like I’m not scared. Give when it’s not fair. Live life for another. Take time for a brother. Fight for the weak ones. Speak out for freedom. Find faith in the battle. Stand tall but above it all Fix my eyes on You.” It gives me something to live for everyday. Plus, it just makes me feel good.

What do you hope to achieve by the time you are 30?

I would like to get through high school. Hopefully, go to college and graduate. My main goal is to go on mission trips, and make a difference by living more for Christ.

What has been the best moment of this year-so far?

Something that is kind of the best and worse was when [my cousin] Claire graduated. It made me realize that we are growing up. It made me sad, but it was also really exciting. It’s weird how many years it’s been since we were 2, running around and stuff.

Hopefully, you enjoyed getting to know one of my (best) friends. I had a lot of fun asking her these questions (hopefully she liked answering them). Until next time…Have a great weekend!

xoxo, mh
